Roughly fifty cars have been covered with what seems to be human blood in the Germany's municipality of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, according to police.
Automobiles, building surfaces and postal boxes were marked, occasionally with prohibited symbols, they announced in a release.
Officers report they were notified during the night on Wednesday evening, when a individual noticed that a vehicle in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been smeared with a red-colored liquid.
The fluid had been drawn in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they added.
Police then located multiple other vandalized vehicles and residential walls in the surrounding area.
These symbols are illegal in Germany under laws prohibiting the public exhibition of Nazi-era symbols.
Law enforcement state initial examinations show the fluid was likely human bodily fluid.
"Currently there is no lead as to its origin; officials are presently not aware of any injuries in relation with the event," they commented.
Local authorities announced they were working "to solve the incident" and have asked to the community for tips.
An important political figure commented the attack made him speechless and needed to be resolved rapidly.
"This incident hits the core of Hanau and reopens the pain of the far-right violent incident in 2020," he posted on social media, recalling the death of nine people by a gunman targeting residents of immigrant origin in February 2020.
